# LuxPower Inverter (Modbus)

> LuxPower Inverter (Modbus) is a Marketplace integration for Home Assistant. It has 399 installs sharing analytics, works locally and was last updated October 14, 2026.

LuxPower Inverter (Modbus) monitors and controls LuxPower inverters through the Wi-Fi dongle over Modbus TCP. Communication stays on the local network without the cloud, and only Wi-Fi dongles are supported. It adds sensors for PV power, battery charge state, grid import and export, and load, plus a text sensor describing what the inverter is doing and a calculated load percentage. Numbers, switches, selects and time entities change charge and discharge currents, toggle features such as grid feed-in, set output priority and schedule charging periods. Read-only mode swaps these controls for sensors, and entities can be grouped into sub-devices for PV, Grid, EPS, Generator and Battery. Setup runs in the UI and asks for the dongle address, its serial number and the inverter serial number.

## Supports

- **Works locally**: Talks to your devices on your own network. No vendor cloud in between.
- **From the Marketplace**: Installed through the Marketplace, formerly HACS.
- **Actively maintained**: Its author released or pushed a change in the last six months.

## Setting it up

Install it from the Marketplace and restart Home Assistant, then add it under Settings, Devices and services.

### Luxpower Inverter Setup

- **IP Address**: The IP address of your inverter's WiFi dongle.
- **Port**: The communication port, usually 8000.
- **WiFi Dongle Serial Number (BAXXXXXXXX)**: The 10-character serial number of your WiFi dongle.
- **Inverter Serial Number (XXXXXXXXX)**: The 10-character serial number of your inverter.
- **Polling Interval (seconds)**: How often to poll the inverter for data. A lower value means faster updates but more network traffic.
- **Entity Prefix (Optional)**: A custom prefix for all entity names (e.g., 'LXP'). Leave blank for no prefix.
- **Inverter Rated Power (Watts)**: The rated power of your inverter in Watts (e.g., 5000 for a 5kW model). Used for calculations.
- **Read-Only Mode**: If enabled, all interactive controls (switches, numbers, selects, etc.) will be replaced with read-only sensors. This allows you to monitor all settings without being able to change them.
- **Register Block Size**: Block size for register reads. Use 125 (default) for most inverters. Use 40 for older firmware that doesn't support larger reads.
- **Connection Retry Attempts**: Number of connection retry attempts before giving up (default is 3).
- **Enable Device Grouping**: Group entities into sub-devices (PV, Grid, EPS, Generator, Battery) for better organization.
- **Battery Entities**: Set to 'none' to disable, 'auto' to auto-discover batteries, or enter comma-separated battery serial numbers.
- **Battery Voltage (V)**: The nominal voltage of your battery bank: 12, 24 or 48 V. Voltage limits are written for 48 V systems and are scaled to match your battery.

### After setup

## From the README

> A comprehensive Home Assistant integration to monitor and control LuxPower inverters via their Modbus TCP interface.
>
> This integration connects directly to your inverter's WiFi dongle, providing real-time data and control over various settings without relying on the cloud.
>
> - Real-time Monitoring: Track PV power, battery state of charge (SOC), grid import/export, load consumption, and more.
> - Inverter Control: Change charge/discharge currents, set timed charging/discharging periods, and enable/disable features like grid feed-in.
> - Organized Device Structure: (v0.2.0+) Entities are automatically grouped into logical sub-devices (PV, Grid, EPS, Generator, Battery) for better organization in Home Assistant.
> - Detailed States: A user-friendly text sensor shows exactly what the inverter is doing (e.g., "PV Powering Load & Charging Battery").
> - Calculated Sensors: Includes derived sensors like "Load Percentage" for a clearer view of your system's performance.
> - Local Polling: All communication is local. No cloud dependency.
