# DessMonitor

> DessMonitor is a Marketplace integration for Home Assistant. It has 294 installs sharing analytics, needs the vendor's cloud and was last updated October 25, 2026.

DessMonitor is a Home Assistant integration that monitors solar inverters and changes supported settings through DessMonitor or ShineMonitor. It works with the same accounts used by SmartESS, SmartClient for Solar, and compatible rebranded apps, and it is set up in the UI. It adds sensors for solar production, battery status, grid use, and inverter health, plus binary sensors, numbers, selects, and buttons for supported controls. Charging priorities, battery settings, and current limits can be adjusted from dashboards and automations. The cloud connection needs the vendor's service, and an optional local mode reads telemetry from the collector over the local network, with the cloud as a fallback. Available sensors and controls depend on the inverter and collector model.

## Supports

- **Uses the vendor's cloud**: Needs an internet connection and an account with the vendor.
- **From the Marketplace**: Installed through the Marketplace, formerly HACS.
- **Actively maintained**: Its author released or pushed a change in the last six months.

## Setting it up

Install it from the Marketplace and restart Home Assistant, then add it under Settings, Devices and services.

### Cloud API + Local Telemetry

- **Username**: Your account username on the selected platform
- **Password**: Your account password on the selected platform
- **Company Key (leave default unless specified by your installer)**
- **Cloud fallback update interval (seconds)**: How often to refresh cloud fallback data. Local telemetry uses its own faster interval.
- **Account platform**: Choose DessMonitor (default) for SmartESS or compatible rebranded apps. Choose ShineMonitor for SmartClient for Solar.

### Cloud Connection

- **Username**: Your account username on the selected platform
- **Password**: Your account password on the selected platform
- **Company Key (leave default unless specified by your installer)**
- **Update interval (seconds)**: How often to fetch data from the selected platform. Default is 300 seconds (5 minutes).
- **Account platform**: Choose DessMonitor (default) for SmartESS or compatible rebranded apps. Choose ShineMonitor for SmartClient for Solar.

### DessMonitor Local

- **Home Assistant LAN IP**: The fixed IPv4 address on this machine that the collector can reach.
- **Collector LAN IP**: The collector is pinned to this exact IPv4 address; other hosts are rejected.
- **Collector product number (optional security check)**: When set, a collector reporting a different product number is rejected.
- **Local TCP port**: The collector connects here; the default is 8899.
- **Collector UDP configuration port**: Target port for the redirect command; the default is 58899.
- **Tunnel code override (0 = automatic)**: Leave 0 unless a verified local tunnel code is known. The cloud devcode does not identify the local protocol. Existing SMG hints 1 and 2376 remain supported.
- **Polling interval**: Primary status requests are serialized to protect the RS485 bus.
- **Allow Home Assistant to request local data from this collector**: Home Assistant sends UDP to this collector on port 58899. The collector must be allowed to connect back to Home Assistant on TCP port 8899. Check host and VLAN firewalls, allow only the configured private address, and do not expose either port to the internet. Depending on firmware, the request may briefly interrupt the collector's cloud session.
- **Inverter address (0 = automatic)**: Leave 0 for automatic discovery starting at address 1. Set 1-247 to read only that inverter address. This does not change the address configured on the inverter.

### DessMonitor Local Advanced Setup

- **Allow Home Assistant to request local data from this collector**: Home Assistant sends UDP to the configured collector port. The collector must be allowed to connect back to the configured Home Assistant TCP port.

### Reconfigure DessMonitor Local

- **Home Assistant LAN IP**
- **Collector LAN IP**
- **Collector product number (optional security check)**
- **Local TCP port**
- **Collector UDP configuration port**
- **Tunnel code override (0 = automatic)**: Leave 0 unless a verified local tunnel code is known. The cloud devcode does not identify the local protocol. Existing SMG hints 1 and 2376 remain supported.
- **Polling interval**
- **Allow Home Assistant to request local data from this collector**
- **Inverter address (0 = automatic)**: Leave 0 for automatic discovery starting at address 1. Set 1-247 to read only that inverter address. This does not change the address configured on the inverter.

### After setup

- **Cloud API interval**: How often to refresh API metadata, controls, cloud-only fields, and fallback data. This does not limit local updates.
- **Telemetry mode**: Cloud only uses the API for telemetry. Prefer local keeps the API as the automatic fallback.
- **Home Assistant LAN IP**: The fixed IPv4 address on this machine that the collector can reach.
- **Collector LAN IP addresses**: Enter one or more fixed private addresses separated by commas, spaces, or new lines. Each connection is pinned to its exact address.
- **Local polling interval**: How often to read local inverter telemetry. Five seconds is recommended and is independent of the cloud API interval.
- **Allow Home Assistant to request local data from these collectors**: Home Assistant sends UDP to the listed collectors on port 58899. Each collector must be allowed to connect back to Home Assistant on TCP port 8899. Check host and VLAN firewalls, allow only the configured private addresses, and do not expose either port to the internet. API fallback remains enabled.
- **Inverter address (0 = automatic)**: Leave 0 for automatic discovery starting at address 1. Set 1-247 to read only that inverter address. This does not change the address configured on the inverter.
- **Polling interval**: How often to poll primary inverter status.
- **Inverter address (0 = automatic)**: Leave 0 for automatic discovery starting at address 1. Set 1-247 to read only that inverter address. This does not change the address configured on the inverter.
