# Ecowitt Local

> Ecowitt Local is a Marketplace integration for Home Assistant. It has 712 installs sharing analytics, works locally and was last updated October 20, 2026.

Ecowitt Local connects Ecowitt weather stations to Home Assistant by polling the gateway's web interface over the local network. It needs no cloud service and no webhooks, and Home Assistant does not have to be reachable from the gateway. Entity IDs are based on each sensor's hardware ID instead of its channel number, so replacing a battery keeps automations, dashboards and history working. Each sensor becomes its own device with battery level, signal strength and online status grouped as diagnostics. Options cover how often live data and sensor mappings are refreshed and whether offline sensors are included, and two actions force a mapping refresh or an immediate data update. Setup is done in the UI with the gateway address and an optional password.

- **Actively maintained**: Its author released or pushed a change in the last six months.

## Setting it up

Install it from the Marketplace and restart Home Assistant, then add it under Settings, Devices and services.

### Ecowitt Local Setup

- **Gateway IP Address**: IP address or hostname of the Ecowitt gateway (e.g., 192.168.1.100)
- **Gateway Password (optional)**: Password for the gateway web interface (leave blank if none)

Also asked when changing the connection.

### Ecowitt Local Options

- **Live Data Poll Interval (seconds)**: How often to poll for live data (30-300 seconds)
- **Sensor Mapping Update Interval (seconds)**: How often to refresh sensor mappings (300-3600 seconds)
- **Include Inactive Sensors**: Include sensors that are currently offline or have no data

### After setup

- **Live Data Poll Interval (seconds)**: How often to poll for live data (30-300 seconds)
- **Sensor Mapping Update Interval (seconds)**: How often to refresh sensor mappings (300-3600 seconds)
- **Include Inactive Sensors**: Include sensors that are currently offline or have no data

## Actions

- **Refresh Sensor Mapping**: Force refresh of sensor hardware ID mapping from the gateway
- **Update Live Data**: Force immediate update of live sensor data from the gateway

## From the README

> Integrate your Ecowitt weather station with Home Assistant using local network polling — no cloud, no webhooks, no exposure of your Home Assistant to the internet.
>
> The key feature is stable entity IDs based on sensor hardware IDs. When a battery dies and you replace it, your automations, dashboards, and history continue to work without any changes.
