# Wake on LAN

> Wake on LAN is a built-in integration for Home Assistant. It has 51k installs sharing analytics and works locally.

Wake on LAN is a built-in integration that sends magic packets to wake devices on the local network. It adds buttons and switches to Home Assistant, and also provides an action for sending a magic packet to a device with Wake-On-LAN capability. Each entry is defined by the MAC address of the target device. Optional settings cover the broadcast address and port, which default to 255.255.255.255 and 9 and are normally left alone, plus a SecureOn password in six-byte hexadecimal format that is appended to the packet. It works locally and is set up in the UI.
