# Volkszaehler

> Volkszaehler is a built-in integration for Home Assistant. It has 10 installs sharing analytics and works locally.

Volkszaehler is a built-in integration that reads data from a Volkszaehler server into Home Assistant. It communicates with the server locally and provides the monitored channel as sensors. Each setup points to one channel, identified by the server host, the port and the channel UUID. It is set up in the user interface and needs nothing beyond Home Assistant itself. Configuration through YAML is deprecated, and a failed YAML import can show a notice under Repairs in the settings.

## Setting it up

It is added under Settings, Devices and services, with Add integration.

### Set up Volkszaehler

- **Host**: IP address or hostname of the Volkszaehler server.
- **Port**: Port number of the Volkszaehler server.
- **UUID**: UUID of the channel to monitor. In the Volkszaehler Web UI, click the (i) icon next to the channel to find it.
