# Uptime Kuma

> Uptime Kuma is a built-in integration for Home Assistant. It has 6.2k installs sharing analytics and needs the vendor's cloud.

Uptime Kuma is a built-in integration that connects Home Assistant to an Uptime Kuma monitoring instance. It adds sensors for each monitor, covering status, response time, uptime over several periods, certificate expiry, monitored hostname and port, monitor type, and tags. An update entity reports the Uptime Kuma version. Setup happens in the UI and asks for an API key and the instance URL, with an option to turn off SSL certificate verification for self-signed certificates. New monitors appear on their own, devices that are gone are removed automatically, and connection settings can be changed later without removing the integration. A diagnostics file can be downloaded for bug reports.

## Setting it up

It is added under Settings, Devices and services, with Add integration.

### Connect

- **API key**: Enter an API key. To create a new API key navigate to Settings → API Keys and select Add API Key
- **URL**
- **Verify SSL certificate**: Enable SSL certificate verification for secure connections. Disable only if connecting to an Uptime Kuma instance using a self-signed certificate or via IP address
