It has 11.8k installs sharing analytics and needs the vendor's cloud. SMTP is a built-in Home Assistant integration that sends email notifications through an SMTP server. It adds a notifier and a send message action, so automations can send email. The connection takes the server host, port, username, password, sender email and sender name, and offers a choice of STARTTLS, SSL/TLS or no encryption. Certificate verification can be switched on for secure connections. Options cover a Reply-To address and name, plus a connection timeout that defaults to 60 seconds. Nothing to download. - **Updated with Home Assistant**: Ships and updates with every Home Assistant release. ## Setting it up It is added under Settings, Devices and services, with Add integration. ### Connect - **Connection security**: Encryption method used for the SMTP connection. STARTTLS upgrades a plain connection to encrypted (recommended). SSL/TLS uses encryption from the start. None sends without encryption. - **Password**: Password or app-specific password for the SMTP account. - **Port**: Port number used by your SMTP server. Common values are 587 (STARTTLS) and 465 (TLS). - **Sender email**: Email address that will appear in the From field. - **Sender name**: Display name shown as the email sender. - **Host**: Hostname or IP address of the SMTP server. For example, smtp.example.com. - **Username**: Username used to authenticate with the SMTP server. - **Verify SSL certificate**: Enable certificate verification for secure SSL/TLS connections. - **Reply-To email address**: Email address to use for recipient replies. If not specified, the sender's email address is used. - **Reply-To name**: Display name shown as the Reply-To name. - **Connection timeout**: Maximum time to wait for a response from the SMTP server before the connection attempt is aborted.
