# PurpleAir

> PurpleAir is a built-in integration for Home Assistant. It has 245 installs sharing analytics and needs the vendor's cloud.

PurpleAir is a built-in integration that tracks air quality readings from PurpleAir sensors in Home Assistant. It adds sensors for particle count concentrations at several sizes, a volatile organic compounds air quality index, signal strength and uptime. Sensors are found by searching within a radius around a latitude and longitude, then picking the ones to track. Setup is done in the UI with a PurpleAir API key, and the read key should be used if both read and write keys exist. Afterwards, the options let sensors be added or removed, and configured sensor locations can be shown on the map. Data comes through the vendor's cloud, and a diagnostics file can be downloaded for bug reports.
