# Profiler

> Profiler is a built-in integration for Home Assistant. It has 3.9k installs sharing analytics.

Profiler is a built-in Home Assistant integration for diagnosing performance and memory use. It adds actions that write diagnostic information to the log, such as current asyncio tasks, thread frames, used sockets, what is scheduled in the event loop, and statistics of LRU caches. It can also create a memory profile or a system profile for a specified number of seconds. For tracking memory, separate actions start and stop logging the growth of objects and the sources of new objects, and another dumps the repr of matching objects to the log. Asyncio debug mode can be switched on or off with an action, and the integration is set up in the UI.

## Setting it up

It is added under Settings, Devices and services, with Add integration.

- **Dump log objects**: Lets the Profiler dump the repr of all matching objects to the log.

- **Dump used sockets**: Lets the Profiler log information about all currently used sockets.
- **Log current asyncio tasks**: Lets the Profiler log all the current asyncio tasks.
- **Log event loop scheduled**: Lets the Profiler log what is scheduled in the event loop.
- **Log thread frames**: Lets the Profiler log the current frames for all threads.
- **Log LRU stats**: Lets the Profiler log the stats of all LRU caches.
- **Create memory profile**: Lets the Profiler create a memory profile for a specified number of seconds.

- **Set asyncio debug**: Lets the Profiler enable or disable asyncio debug.

- **Create system profile**: Lets the Profiler create a system profile for a specified number of seconds.
