# Opower

> Opower is a built-in integration for Home Assistant. It has 3.8k installs sharing analytics and needs the vendor's cloud.

Opower is a built-in Home Assistant integration that reads billing and usage data from a utility account. It connects through the vendor's cloud and is set up in the UI with the utility name, username and password. If the account uses multi-factor authentication, setup asks for a security code and the method for receiving it, and a TOTP secret can be entered so codes are generated automatically. It adds sensors for the current bill, covering electric and gas cost to date, forecasted cost, forecasted usage, usage to date, and the start and end dates of the billing period. Sensors also show typical monthly electric cost and usage. New devices appear without repeating setup, and devices that are gone are removed on their own.
