# OpenWeatherMap

> OpenWeatherMap is a built-in integration for Home Assistant. It has 25.2k installs sharing analytics and needs the vendor's cloud.

OpenWeatherMap is a built-in integration that brings weather data from the OpenWeatherMap cloud service into Home Assistant. It provides a weather entity along with sensors such as cloud coverage, dew point, apparent temperature, rain intensity, snow intensity, UV index, visibility and wind gust speed. An action retrieves a minute-by-minute forecast for the next hour, which is a notable extra for short-term planning. Setup happens in the UI, where an API key, language, location, API mode and a name for the location are entered. Language and mode can be changed later in the options. The integration can also post a notice under Settings, Repairs when the API version it uses is deprecated.
