# Onkyo

> Onkyo is a built-in integration for Home Assistant. It has 6.3k installs sharing analytics and works locally.

Onkyo is a built-in integration that controls Onkyo network receivers from Home Assistant over the local network. It provides media player and switch entities for each receiver. Home Assistant can discover receivers on the network and offer to add them, or a receiver can be picked from a list or entered by hostname or IP address. Setup is done in the UI, where the supported input sources and listening modes are chosen, along with the volume resolution of the receiver. A maximum volume limit can be set as a percentage, so that full volume in Home Assistant maps to that share of the receiver's maximum. Connection settings can be changed later without removing the entry.

## Supports

- **Works locally**: Talks to your devices on your own network. No vendor cloud in between.
- **Set up in the UI**: Add it in Settings, Devices and services. Nothing to download.
- **Found by itself**: Home Assistant spots it on the network and offers to add it.
- **Change settings later**: Its connection settings can change without removing it.
- **Bronze quality**: Home Assistant's own rating of its code and setup experience.
- **Updated with Home Assistant**: Ships and updates with every Home Assistant release.

## Setting it up

Home Assistant usually finds it on the network and offers to add it. It can also be added by hand under Settings, Devices and services.

### Enter the address

- **Host**: Hostname or IP address of the receiver.

### Configure receiver

- **Input sources**: List of input sources supported by the receiver.
- **Listening modes**: List of listening modes supported by the receiver.
- **Volume resolution**: Number of steps it takes for the receiver to go from the lowest to the highest possible volume.

### Eiscp discovery

- **Device**: Select the receiver to configure.

### After setup

- **Input sources**: List of input sources supported by the receiver.
- **Listening modes**: List of listening modes supported by the receiver.
- **Maximum volume limit (%)**: Maximum volume limit as a percentage. This will associate Home Assistant's maximum volume to this value on the receiver, i.e., if you set this to 50%, then setting the volume to 100% in Home Assistant will cause the volume on the receiver to be set to 50% of its maximum value.
