# Network UPS Tools (NUT)

> Network UPS Tools (NUT) is a built-in integration for Home Assistant. It has 25.5k installs sharing analytics and works locally.

Network UPS Tools (NUT) is a built-in integration that reads UPS status from a NUT server. It communicates locally with the server and is set up in the UI by entering the host, port and optional username and password. After connecting, one of the UPS units configured on the server is chosen to monitor. It adds sensors for battery charge, battery capacity, low and warning battery setpoints, charging status, battery current, ambient temperature and ambient humidity. Buttons and switches are also provided as entity platforms. Home Assistant can discover the server on the network and offer to add it, and the connection settings can be changed later without removing it.
