# motionEye

> motionEye is a built-in integration for Home Assistant. It has 2.5k installs sharing analytics and works locally.

motionEye is a built-in Home Assistant integration that connects to a motionEye video surveillance server. It works locally and is set up in the UI with the server URL plus admin and surveillance credentials. It adds cameras, a sensor for actions, and switches for motion detection, movies, still images, text overlay, upload and video streaming. Three actions are available: triggering a motionEye action, setting the text overlay for a camera, and taking a still snapshot. Options let motionEye webhooks report events back to Home Assistant, allow overwriting unrecognized webhooks, and set a stream URL template.
