# LCN

> LCN is a built-in integration for Home Assistant. It has 127 installs sharing analytics and works locally.

LCN is a built-in integration that connects Home Assistant to LCN bus installations locally through a PCHK server. It provides binary sensors, climate, covers, lights, scenes, sensors and switches. Actions cover dynamic text on LCN-GTxD displays, LED states, key locks, regulator locks, output brightness, output toggling, relays, sent keys, and variable or setpoint values, plus arbitrary PCK commands. Device triggers start automations from received code lock, fingerprint, transmitter and transponder codes, and from received send keys. Setup happens in the UI with the server address, port, credentials, dimming mode, optional acknowledgement requests and segment coupler scan attempts. Connection settings can be changed later without removing the entry.

## Supports

- **Works locally**: Talks to your devices on your own network. No vendor cloud in between.
- **Set up in the UI**: Add it in Settings, Devices and services. Nothing to download.
- **Device triggers**: Its devices can start automations directly.
- **Change settings later**: Its connection settings can change without removing it.
- **Silver quality**: Home Assistant's own rating of its code and setup experience.
- **Updated with Home Assistant**: Ships and updates with every Home Assistant release.

## Setting it up

It is added under Settings, Devices and services, with Add integration.

### Set up LCN host

- **Request acknowledgement from modules**: Retry sendig commands if no expected response is received from modules (increases bus traffic).
- **Dimming mode**: The number of steps used for dimming outputs of all LCN modules.
- **Name**: Name of the LCN integration entry.
- **IP address**: IP address or hostname of the PCHK server.
- **Password**: Password for authorization on the PCHK server.
- **Port**: Port used by the PCHK server.
- **Segment coupler scan attempts**: If you have a segment coupler in your LCN installation, increase this number to at least 3, so all segment couplers are identified correctly.
- **Username**: Username for authorization on the PCHK server.

### Reconfigure LCN host

- **Request acknowledgement from modules**: Retry sendig commands if no expected response is received from modules (increases bus traffic).
