# Universal Devices ISY/IoX

> Universal Devices ISY/IoX is a built-in integration for Home Assistant. It has 502 installs sharing analytics and works locally.

Universal Devices ISY/IoX is a built-in integration that connects Home Assistant to ISY, eisy and Polisy controllers. It talks to the controller locally and is set up in the UI, and Home Assistant can find the controller on the network and offer to add it. It provides binary sensors, buttons, climate, covers, events, fans, lights, locks, numbers, selects, sensors and switches. Actions cover sending node and program commands, raw device commands for nodes not fully supported yet, and renaming nodes or scenes on the controller. For Z-Wave devices, it can read and set device parameters and set or delete lock user codes. Options include restoring light brightness and string settings for ignoring nodes and naming node and variable sensors, and the TLS certificate check can be turned off for self-signed controllers.

## Supports

- **Works locally**: Talks to your devices on your own network. No vendor cloud in between.
- **Set up in the UI**: Add it in Settings, Devices and services. Nothing to download.
- **Found by itself**: Home Assistant spots it on the network and offers to add it.
- **Updated with Home Assistant**: Ships and updates with every Home Assistant release.

## Setting it up

Home Assistant usually finds it on the network and offers to add it. It can also be added by hand under Settings, Devices and services.

### Connect to your ISY

- **URL**
- **Password**
- **Username**
- **Verify SSL certificate**: Verify the controller's TLS certificate. Leave disabled for ISY-994/eisy/Polisy controllers using their default self-signed certificate.

### Reauthenticate your ISY

- **Password**
- **Username**

### After setup

- **Ignore String**
- **Restore Light Brightness**
- **Node Sensor String**
- **Variable Sensor String**

## Actions

- **Delete Z-Wave lock user code**: Deletes a user code for a Z-Wave lock via the ISY.
  Fields: User Number
- **Get Z-Wave parameter**: Requests a Z-Wave device parameter via the ISY. The parameter value will be returned as an entity extra state attribute with the name "ZW\_\#" where "\#" is the parameter number.
  Fields: Parameter
- **Rename node on ISY**: Renames a node or group (scene) on the ISY. Note: this will not automatically change the Home Assistant entity name or entity ID to match. The entity name and ID will only be updated after reloading the integration or restarting Home Assistant, and ONLY IF you have not already customized the name within Home Assistant.
  Fields: New Name
- **Send node command**: Sends a command to an ISY device using its Home Assistant entity ID. Valid commands are: beep, brighten, dim, disable, enable, fade\_down, fade\_stop, fade\_up, fast\_off, fast\_on, and query.
  Fields: Command
- **Send program command**: Sends a command to control an ISY program or folder. Valid commands are run, run\_then, run\_else, stop, enable, disable, enable\_run\_at\_startup, and disable\_run\_at\_startup.
  Fields: Address, Command, ISY, Name
- **Send raw node command**: Sends a “raw” (e.g., DON, DOF) ISY REST device command to a node using its Home Assistant entity ID. This is useful for devices that aren’t fully supported in Home Assistant yet, such as controls for many NodeServer nodes.
Fields: Command, Parameters, Unit of measurement, Value
- **Set Z-Wave lock user code**: Sets a user code for a Z-Wave lock via the ISY.
  Fields: Code, User Number
- **Set Z-Wave parameter**: Updates a Z-Wave device parameter via the ISY. The parameter value will also be returned as an entity extra state attribute with the name "ZW\_\#" where "\#" is the parameter number.
  Fields: Parameter, Size, Value

## Troubleshooting

- **System health**: Adds its status to Home Assistant's system information.
