# HomeKit Device

> HomeKit Device is a built-in integration for Home Assistant. It has 83.4k installs sharing analytics and works locally.

HomeKit Device is a built-in integration that connects Apple HomeKit accessories to Home Assistant over the local network. It pairs with a device through the HomeKit Accessory Protocol using a pairing code, and it offers an option to allow pairing with insecure setup codes. Home Assistant can spot compatible devices on the network and offer to add them, and setup is done in the UI. Paired accessories appear on many platforms, including lights, locks, climate, covers, fans, cameras, sensors, switches and alarms. The devices can also start automations directly through device triggers, and a diagnostics file can be downloaded to attach to a bug report.
