# Fronius

> Fronius is a built-in integration for Home Assistant. It has 10.4k installs sharing analytics and works locally.

Fronius is a built-in integration that connects Home Assistant to Fronius solar inverters over the local network. It adds sensors for readings such as AC and DC current, per-phase current, daily energy, grid import and export tariffs, and battery capacity. Binary sensors report backup mode and battery standby. Number controls and switches let Home Assistant set limits on AC power, battery charging and battery discharging, and set a minimum battery reserve, with a switch for grid charging of the battery. An option can make the inverter drop the AC power limit and return to its own settings if Home Assistant stops sending it, while battery setpoints are not affected. The device can be discovered on the network and is set up in the UI, and new devices appear without repeating setup.

## Supports

- **Works locally**: Talks to your devices on your own network. No vendor cloud in between.
- **Set up in the UI**: Add it in Settings, Devices and services. Nothing to download.
- **Found by itself**: Home Assistant spots it on the network and offers to add it.
- **Adds new devices**: New devices show up without setting it up again.
- **Cleans up devices**: Devices that are gone are removed by themselves.
- **Change settings later**: Its connection settings can change without removing it.
- **Platinum quality**: Home Assistant's own rating of its code and setup experience.
- **Updated with Home Assistant**: Ships and updates with every Home Assistant release.

## Setting it up

Home Assistant usually finds it on the network and offers to add it. It can also be added by hand under Settings, Devices and services.

### Connect

- **Revert the AC power limit if Home Assistant stops**: The inverter drops the AC power limit an hour after it last received it, and returns to its own settings. Home Assistant sends the limit again every 15 minutes, so this only takes effect once it stops sending - because Home Assistant is down, or because the integration was removed. Battery setpoints are not affected - the inverter supports no timeout for them.
- **Host**: The IP address or hostname of your Fronius device.
- **Modbus port**: Port of the device's Modbus TCP interface. Only used when Modbus is enabled on the device's web interface.
