# DSMR Smart Meter

DSMR Smart Meter is a built-in integration that reads data from a smart meter and exposes it as sensors. It works locally, with no cloud connection involved. The sensors cover electricity readings such as power consumption, power production, current average demand, the active tariff, and energy totals, including production per tariff. Setup happens in the UI, where a DSMR version is selected and the meter is reached through a serial device or a network address. An encryption key from the grid operator can be entered for meters that need one. An option sets the minimum time in seconds between entity updates, and a diagnostics file can be downloaded for bug reports.
