# Google Cast

> Google Cast is a built-in integration for Home Assistant. It has 288k installs sharing analytics and works locally.

Google Cast is a built-in integration that connects Cast devices to Home Assistant as media players. It communicates with the devices locally, and Home Assistant finds them on the network and offers to add them. Setup is done in the UI, where known hostnames or IP addresses can be added if automatic discovery does not work. The options also allow limiting which devices are added by listing their UUIDs, and a list of Chromecasts can be set to ignore CEC data when determining the active input. An action is included that shows a dashboard view on a Cast device.

- **Ignore CEC**: A comma-separated list of Chromecasts that should ignore CEC data for determining the active input. This will be passed to pychromecast.IGNORE\_CEC.
- **Allowed UUIDs**: A comma-separated list of UUIDs of Cast devices to add to Home Assistant. Use only if you don’t want to add all available cast devices.
