# air-Q

> air-Q is a built-in integration for Home Assistant. It has 201 installs sharing analytics and works locally.

air-Q is a built-in integration that reads air quality data from air-Q devices over the local network. It adds sensors for gases and other readings such as carbon monoxide, ammonia, ethanol, chlorine and dew point, plus a number entity for LED brightness. Home Assistant can discover the device on the network and offer to add it, and setup in the UI asks for the device IP address and password. Options let negative sensor values, which can appear briefly during baseline calibration, be clipped to zero, which is the default. Another option chooses whether to show values averaged by the device, which is also the default, or the noisier raw readings. A diagnostics download is available for attaching to bug reports.

- **Found by itself**: Home Assistant spots it on the network and offers to add it.
- **Updated with Home Assistant**: Ships and updates with every Home Assistant release.

## Setting it up

Home Assistant usually finds it on the network and offers to add it. It can also be added by hand under Settings, Devices and services.

### Identify the device

- **IP address**
- **Password**

### Set up air-Q

- **Password**

### After setup

- **Clip negative values**: For baseline calibration purposes, certain sensor values may briefly become negative. The default behavior is to clip such values to 0
- **Show values averaged by the device**: air-Q allows to poll both the noisy sensor readings as well as the values averaged on the device (default)
