# Samba Backup

> Samba Backup is an app for Home Assistant. It has 6.6k installs sharing analytics and was last updated June 26, 2024.

Samba Backup is an app that creates Home Assistant backups and stores them on a Samba share. Backups run at a set time of day on chosen days, or only when triggered from the user's own automations or scripts. Options cover how many backups to keep locally and on the share, a custom backup name with type, version and date patterns, and password protection for the backup files. Specific add-ons and folders can be excluded, which makes the backup partial. The app also adds a sensor that reports whether it is idle, running, succeeded or failed, with statistics in its attributes. It needs Home Assistant OS, has no sidebar page, and a compatibility mode exists for older SMB shares.
