# qBittorrent

> qBittorrent is an app for Home Assistant. It has 801 installs sharing analytics and was last updated October 27, 2026.

qBittorrent is a Home Assistant app that runs a BitTorrent client with optional VPN support. It is based on the linuxserver.io Docker image and opens its web interface from the sidebar through ingress. Options cover mounting a local external drive or an SMB share, SSL, custom DNS servers, and a VPN connection through either OpenVPN or WireGuard. Custom scripts and extra environment variables can be passed in through the app configuration. Snippets in the readme show how to check and switch the alternate speed mode from Home Assistant using a sensor and a shell command. It requires Home Assistant OS, supports aarch64 and amd64, and asks for privileged Linux capabilities and access to USB, serial or GPIO devices.

## Supports

- **Opens in the sidebar**: Its own page opens inside Home Assistant.
- **Actively maintained**: Its author released or pushed a change in the last six months.

## Setting it up

Add its app repository under Settings, Apps, then install and start it.

## From the README

> I maintain this and other Home Assistant add-ons in my free time: keeping up with upstream changes, HA changes, and testing on real hardware takes a lot of time (and some money). I use around 5-10 of my \>110 addons so regularly I install test machines (and purchase some test services such as vpn) that I don't use myself to troubleshoot and improve the addons
>
> If this add-on saves you time or makes your setup easier, I would be very grateful for your support!
