# Node-RED

> Node-RED is an app for Home Assistant. It has 54.9k installs sharing analytics and was last updated October 27, 2026.

Node-RED is an app that runs the flow-based Node-RED programming tool inside Home Assistant. It provides a browser-based editor where hardware devices, APIs and online services are wired together as flows built from nodes in a palette. Its editor opens as its own page in the Home Assistant sidebar. The app comes pre-configured, so no server connection settings need to be entered. Options cover log verbosity, SSL with certificate and key files, a secret key for encrypting stored credentials, a choice of editor themes, and password protection for HTTP endpoints defined by nodes. It requires Home Assistant OS, runs on aarch64 and amd64, and has access to the Home Assistant and Supervisor APIs.
