# MQTT Explorer

> MQTT Explorer is an app for Home Assistant. It has 1.1k installs sharing analytics and was last updated October 27, 2026.

MQTT Explorer is a Home Assistant app for browsing the topics and messages on an MQTT broker. It runs the web edition of the MQTT Explorer desktop application and opens as its own page in the Home Assistant sidebar. Every topic is shown in a searchable tree with its last message, how often it changes and its earlier values. Values can be plotted as they arrive, and messages can be published back to the broker. If a broker app such as Mosquitto is installed, its address and credentials are added to the connection list as Home Assistant and refreshed on each start; other brokers, including TLS ones, can be added by hand. It needs Home Assistant OS, runs on aarch64 and amd64, and is reachable only through Ingress.

## Supports

- **Opens in the sidebar**: Its own page opens inside Home Assistant.
- **Actively maintained**: Its author released or pushed a change in the last six months.

## Setting it up

Add its app repository under Settings, Apps, then install and start it.

## From the docs

> MQTT Explorer shows what is going on inside an MQTT broker. Every topic it sees is laid out in a tree, with the last message on it, how often it changes and what it looked like before. Values can be plotted as they come in, messages can be published back, and the whole tree stays searchable while it fills up.
>
> It is a desktop application first, and this app runs its web edition: the same interface, served from Home Assistant and opened from the sidebar.
