# Matterbridge

> Matterbridge is an app for Home Assistant. It has 3.4k installs sharing analytics and was last updated October 23, 2026.

Matterbridge is a Home Assistant app that runs Matterbridge under the Home Assistant Supervisor. It needs Home Assistant OS and runs on amd64 and aarch64 systems. The Matterbridge web interface opens as its own page in the Home Assistant sidebar. The app uses the host network directly, and the Matter mDNS interface has to be set in the Matterbridge settings because Home Assistant exposes many interfaces to containers. Matterbridge storage and plugin storage persist through updates, restarts and reinstalls, and previously registered plugins are reloaded on start. A configuration page sets the binding address for the frontend and chooses between the latest stable or latest dev release of Matterbridge.

Apps need Home Assistant OS. Container and Core installs cannot run them.

## Supports

- **Opens in the sidebar**: Its own page opens inside Home Assistant.
- **Actively maintained**: Its author released or pushed a change in the last six months.

## Setting it up

Add its app repository under Settings, Apps, then install and start it.

## Permissions

- **Host network**: Uses the host's network directly instead of its own.

## Configuration

- **Branch**: Select which Matterbridge release channel to run. The "main" branch tracks stable releases, while the "dev" branch includes the latest features and fixes but may be less stable.
- **Frontend bind address**: Bind address for the Matterbridge Web UI. Leave 0.0.0.0 to access the Matterbridge UI at http://homeassistant.local:8283. Set to 172.30.32.1 (Ingress interface) to allow access only through Home Assistant Ingress.
- **Force update**: Whether to force update Matterbridge on restart. If true, Matterbridge will be reinstalled from npm on every restart avoiding potentially outdated cached versions. Set to false only if your host has limited available memory and resources.
