# Home Assistant Time Machine

> Home Assistant Time Machine is an app for Home Assistant. It has 791 installs sharing analytics and was last updated September 1, 2026.

Home Assistant Time Machine is an app for browsing and restoring Home Assistant configuration backups. It keeps YAML backups of automations, scripts, dashboards, ESPHome files and packages, and shows side-by-side diffs against the live setup. Single automations or scripts can be restored without rolling back a whole backup, and a backup is made automatically before any restore. Backups can run on a schedule, in an incremental mode that saves only changed files, or be triggered from automations through a service call. Individual backups can be locked against deletion or exported as archives. It opens as its own page in the Home Assistant sidebar, requires Home Assistant OS, and runs on amd64 and aarch64.
