# FTP

> FTP is an app for Home Assistant. It has 8k installs sharing analytics and was last updated October 27, 2026.

FTP is a Home Assistant app that runs an FTP server for receiving files such as camera uploads. It supports FTP over SSL, including an implicit SSL mode, and confines each virtual user to a home directory with chroot. Settings cover the listening port, the data port, a greeting banner, passive mode with a port range and address override, and a maximum number of connected clients. Users are defined in a list, and each one can have its own permissions. The SSL certificate and key files are chosen in the options, with the certificate stored in the ssl folder. It needs Home Assistant OS, runs on aarch64 and amd64, uses the host network, asks for extra system rights, and has no sidebar page.

> This app provides an FTP Server for Hass.io in a reasonably secure manner. While FTP is not entirely secure by its (unencrypted) nature, this app supports FTP over SSL (FTPS) and jails (chroot) the virtual users in their home directories.
