# Crowdsec

> Crowdsec is an app for Home Assistant. It has 660 installs sharing analytics and was last updated September 2, 2026.

Crowdsec is a Home Assistant app that runs the CrowdSec intrusion prevention system on the host. It analyzes visitor behavior and responds to attacks, and by default it is set up to detect brute force attempts on the Home Assistant login page. The host system journal is mapped into the app, so logs from other add-ons, such as Nginx Proxy Manager, can also be parsed. A web terminal opens inside Home Assistant from the sidebar, which allows managing CrowdSec components such as bouncers. Options cover installing or removing collections, parsers, scenarios and postoverflows, running only the agent against a remote local API, and turning off signal sharing with the online API. It requires Home Assistant OS and needs no special permissions.
