# AppDaemon

> AppDaemon is an app for Home Assistant. It has 13.2k installs sharing analytics and was last updated October 27, 2026.

AppDaemon is a Home Assistant app that runs Python automation apps and serves the HADashboard dashboard. It provides a sandboxed, multithreaded Python environment for writing automations, plus a configurable dashboard suited to wall mounted tablets. The app connects to Home Assistant on its own, so no access token or Home Assistant URL has to be entered in the AppDaemon configuration. Options cover log verbosity, extra Debian packages, extra Python packages from PyPI, and shell commands that run on every start. It does not configure AppDaemon or HADashboard itself, but creates sample files on the first run. It requires Home Assistant OS and is built for aarch64 and amd64.
