# AdGuard Home

> AdGuard Home is an app for Home Assistant. It has 22.9k installs sharing analytics and was last updated October 27, 2026.

AdGuard Home is an app that runs a network-wide DNS server to block ads and trackers. It also includes parental control filtering for adult content, and it works for all devices on the network without a client-side program. Its web interface opens from the Home Assistant sidebar, and sign-in can use Home Assistant accounts. Options cover log verbosity, SSL with a certificate and key file, and an option to turn off authentication. Host names for pages shown when the safe browsing or parental control filters block a request can also be set. It needs Home Assistant OS, runs on aarch64 and amd64, and uses the host network with extra system rights.

## Permissions

- **Host network**: Uses the host's network directly instead of its own.
- **Extra system rights**: Asks for privileged Linux capabilities.
- **Supervisor API**: Can talk to the Supervisor, which manages apps and the system.
- **Sign-in checks**: Can check Home Assistant usernames and passwords.

## Network

- `53/udp`: DNS server port

## Configuration

- **Log level**: Controls the level of log output by the app and can be changed to be more or less verbose, which might be useful when you are dealing with an unknown issue. Each level automatically includes the messages of a more severe level.
- **SSL**: Enables/Disables encrypted SSL (HTTPS) for direct access to the app. This setting has no effect on the Ingress service.
- **Certificate file**: The certificate file to use for SSL. The file must be stored in the /ssl/ directory.
- **Private key file**: The private key file to use for SSL. The file must be stored in the /ssl/ directory.
- **Leave front door open**: Disables authentication on AdGuard Home when enabled. We strongly advise against enabling this, even on an internal network. Use at your own risk!
- **Safe browsing block host**: Host name that replaces the answer for requests blocked by safe browsing. Defaults to standard-block.dns.adguard.com, which points to an external AdGuard block page.
- **Parental control block host**: Host name that replaces the answer for requests blocked by parental control. Defaults to family-block.dns.adguard.com, which points to an external AdGuard block page.
